The Eyes Have It

How about another? This is the title song off our upcoming album.

The Eyes of Innocents

The eyes of innocents gaze their final glimpse of yesterday,

then shuffle on their way.

Cries from time's corridor echo distant warriors 'till they're heard,

but never spoke a word.

Conscience in formal dress barred and locked behind an open door,

where they were before.

Reflecting countless years cast between the mirrors in the sea,

reflecting all eternity.

I remember times that are yet to be, modeled on an age long prophecy.

Time resonates with unknowing frequency.

The mists of Avalon will part,

The names are called as they embark.

The tears of Isis fall like rain,

Sand of time slip through the glass,

elegies of times long past once the arcane.

Has it all come down to this, is there something that I've missed?

One final tryst?

Has this all happened before? I'm sure it has.

What our future has in store lies in the past.

Maybe it's only a dream, it's our choice to laugh or scream,

quickly choose, time's running short.

Toss the dice then cast the die, questions that have no reply impede your council from the sky.

Monuments cross the land.

Millennia still they stand.

Not out of tune, still watching the moon.

A secret past, the die is cast!

But Mayans must wait before their gates open wide.

So the mighty flower hides itself away.

Until the chains that tower heard a whisper say,

"I too have died so many, many times. With no significance.

The ones who overcame all of their crimes, the eyes of innocents."

I remember times that are yet to be modeled on an age long prophecy.

Time resonates with unknowing frequency.

I remember times that are yet to be, struggling with forgotten prophecy.

Only the eyes of the innocents can see.

I remember times that are yet to be, I remember times that I've yet to see.

I remember... Time.

Cash cavaliers were knowing for years that the temperature's begun to rise.

Ringing in my ears a secret past appears it is now too late for compromise.

We cower here to avoid the glare of the eyes of the innocents.

Waters are heightening, the vice keeps on tightening so the time has come to watch the skies.

No use rewriting it's time for enlightening and to wake from our collective lie.

From age to age we've fashioned this cage for the eyes of the innocents!

A Lyric to Ponder

Hello everyone, happy week of solstice! Today we'd like to share some new lyrics. This is a song off our upcoming album The Eyes of Innocents entitled... well, it has no title. It's an Enigma of sorts. And as an Enigma, I invite all to to investigate the googols of ideas that we hope this lyric will invoke in the listener. Please, email us with your interpretations!

Quasar

Come now, travel to New Indigo!
Point your compass sharply east of Jericho.
There we'll climb the broken pyramid.
Thirty-three is the Majority.

I know what you're hiding!
Who can you trust to confide in?
So, why not just let it go?
Save the world from history,
It's in our hands.
To set this world free!

Do you see the Eagle fly?
They painted out the night
and plucked him from the sky.

So, why not just let it go?
And save this world from hertz,
just let it go!

I know the time will come
When all will see the light
That shines from every soul
And separates the darkness from the night.

Once upon a farce
I felt I knew it all
But now I feel I've been betrayed
I'm just the sacrificial cow.

Come home soon said the Man on the Moon.
We've a place for you in the Paris Commune,
The seventh son plays a curtain tune for you.

The time to wink is the time to see.
The Turf Club patrons all agree, Why
is their only swan song overdue?

A Curates egg, by some mistake,
Could give as much as they could take.
The land will quake and change its point of view.

The Seventh Son of the seventh Sun
played ducks and drakes 'till the summer's done.
He's on the run and off to something new!

The summer's gone.
Madness reigns on.
Moving fingers write, "The donkeys are leading us all.
Led by the Holy eight ball".
Mockery against the wall.
I think therefore I think I am.
I am pink therefore I am spam.
I drink because I can.

Please release me, let me go free. Just
show me the way to the door.
I want to retire from this war.

To be left alone!
No more Alternative three
No more presidential decree
Free just to be and plant seed

But...
There's a chill in the air,
Our winter is near
We were so close to the truth
So close to our labor's sweet fruit,
But now the idea is moot,
the voice of the innocents mute.

Here comes the fire, let it burn higher!
The rising tides rage in their beds,
The best laid plans of mice and men...
Curse this machine, killer of dreams
It serves you and I just as well.
Our freedom sold now by cartel.

Sifting through the wreckage, I can hear me saying things I never said.
Has everything that happened just existed here, or was it in my head?

Writing New Progressive

New progressive is a bit redundant now that I think of it.  The very definition of progressive music is a type of music that tries not to repeat what has been written before.  Of course, taken literally, this would mean that at one point in time rap was progressive... hardly!  This actually illuminates a problem that we are currently experiencing.  We despise the confining mindsets of genre, but in the current music industry, it is a necessary evil.  The more recent prog projects seem to us to be verging more on the side of metal.  This is well and all, but our style is more symphonic in nature, so we're having a genre problem.  Symphonic rock? Orchestral Prog? How shall we classify ourselves? This why the genre thing drives us nuts!  Any ideas from readers would be greatly appreciated! Feel free to send us a line at: quasar@bubbagroove.com  None-the-less, genre problem or not, we are well on our way to completing our third album. It will be a mixture of the traditional Quasar you've grown to know, with some new elements that hopefully will thrill and surprise the listener!  Tomorrow, I'll start some sneak peeks into new material, hopefully giving you all a taste of what'[s to come.

Prog on!

And so it begins...

Hello everyone welcome to the Quasar blog! Quasar is a progressive rock band that was started in the UK back in 1979. Up until about two years ago, Quasar practically ceased to exist, but after a massive search for the right musicians, the band is back and is working hard on their third album which is due out early 2010. If you'd like to hear some of the old tracks, or get a little more history on the band, go to their myspace page. This blog is going to give an inside look at what it's like to be involved in a progressive rock band, how we insane progressive musicians come up with those 20 minute epics of sonic audacity that you love to play full tilt on your home music system, what those lyrics really meant, and anything else that enters our silicon chipped minds!  So once again, welcome to the blog, We hope your adventures here will be rewarding, and fruitful!

Prog on!
